In life Fred Krueger was an outcast, from the time of his birth, abused, neglected and friendless. It might be possible to make the argument that the repulsive crimes he committed during his life time were inevitable given his lineage. Fathered by any one of the number of criminally insane maniacs who raped his mother, a Catholic nun, perhaps Fred's genes were just bad or perhaps the ridicule, abuse and neglect he endured broke him at a young age. Nobody can really say for certain. What is certain is that Freddy couldn't care less. He is what he is, he knows what he is and he loves what he is.

Freddy is part vengeance demon, part fear demon, part serial killer and all evil. He kills without remorse, a song in his blackened heart and a skip in his step. He prefers to kill children and teenagers. Children because of their innocence, they always were his favorite, the way their sweet little faces look at you, so trusting and unaware until that moment you slice into their supple, perfect flesh. Teenagers because they are so very easy to scare and that terror feeds his soul like nothing else in the world. Freddy won't discriminate though, he's an equal opportunity mass murderer, he'll take you regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or species. In other words, he'll kill whomever he can get his claw into.

Screams are his lullaby and blood his warm milk. He likes to make it fun though, he's a sporting sort of guy with a devilish sense of humor (you can probably tell that he was a fan of slap stick in his human days) and cutting wit as sharp as the blades of his glove. He isn't above self mutilation for the entertainment of his victims either, after all they are a captive audience, why not make it last. Don't let his utter enjoyment of his nightmare delights fool you, Freddy is far from content with his unlife. He wants out of peoples dreams and nightmares and into their world, their real, every day, worlds. He wants back the life the parents of Springwood stole from him and he'll do anything it takes to get what he wants.


Abilities:

Dreamwalker/Dream Manipulator - He can enter dreams and make the dream world his own. It bends to his will and he can kill you there. Absorbing his victims' souls gain him more power to push at and influence the line between dreams and reality.

Immortal - He's already dead and can't be permanently killed. However, if the dreamer can keep hold of him within the dream and be awakened, Freddy can be physically dragged out from that dream, into reality and hurt or killed. Killing him in reality doesn't completely destroy him, only temporarily depowers him and locks him in limbo for a time. These effects can also be reached if he is forgotten/no one fears him.

Can't be permanently damaged - You can hack and slash away, remove limbs, organs or even his head. He probably won't like it, it might even hurt, but he'll be back again tomorrow.

Fred's mother, Amanda Krueger, known by that time as Sister Mary Helena, a Catholic nun was working at Our Lady of Sorrows asylum one Christmas holiday and managed to be accidentally locked inside the tower where the worst of the criminally insane patients were held. There she was beaten and raped repeatedly and found days later barely alive. It was discovered soon thereafter that she was pregnant, and having a profound respect for all life, carried the child to term. She gave her breech birth son the name Fredrick Charles Krueger and then turn him over to the care of a Mr. & Mrs. Underwood, not knowing that Mr. Underwood was an abusive and sadistic drunk and that Mrs. Underwood would gladly allow her husband to turn his rage to the boy in order to spare herself.

By the time Freddy was in elementary school he had begun to display sociopathic behaviors such as the maiming and killing of small animals and was also dabbling in self mutilation. His peers ridiculed and ostracized him with names like "son of a hundred maniacs" and made it clear that he was a social pariah. The first people he killed were his own adoptive parents, payback for the harsh treatment he'd received at there hands. Their disappearance was ruled abandonment and the then 18 year old Fred was allowed to keep the home he had grown up in.

For a while it seemed he might have moved past it all, taking a wife and starting a family. Nobody suspected that Fred Krueger, family man and local plant janitor, was the psychopath who was using the guise of an ice cream truck man to kidnap, abuse and murder --practically butchering-- the town's children. Eventually he created his own special tool for this task; a work glove with blades attached to it like long metal fingernails. This practice earned him the moniker "The Springwood Slasher". When his wife accidentally discovered Fred's "trophy room" in the family shed, working out the fact that he was the town's feared serial child killer he was forced to strangle her to keep his secret hidden, while their daughter, Kathryn watched.

Fred continued to escape notice as he kept to his killing. For nearly a decade total he terrorized the town until one day he was caught, through the confession of little Kathryn regarding her mother's disappearance, and brought to trial. After two years, he escaped punishment and was released due to a technicality and all evidence being deemed inadmissible. Many of the parents of Springwood, livid in there outrage, formed a lynch mob and hunted Fred down. They found him in his boiler room hideout and there they set him on fire and watched as he burned to death before them.

As the flames surrounded him, growing ever closer, Fred was approached by three demons. These demons, having decided that he was a perfect specimen of evil, offered him the chance to become a demon, one with the power to manipulate the dream scape and turn dreams into his own reality, and to "be forever". Fred accepted this offer and was heard screaming in laughter as the flames consumed his mortal flesh.

Fred Krueger is dead. Long live Freddy Krueger.

Several years later, when he had been all but forgotten and the children of the parents involved in his death were teenagers, Freddy Krueger returned to Springwood and his killing ways. He made it his mission to kill all the children of Springwood, starting with the teenaged spawn of his lynch mob. One by one he hunted them down and murdered them in their sleep. Everything he did to them in his nightmare constructs leaving a mark on reality.
